Dan Cederquist began his winemaking career in 1987 in the cellar at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars after receiving his degree from UC Davis (B.S.,Viticulture). After six harvests he took a position as assistant winemaker at De Loach Vineyards in Sonoma County, and within six months became winemaker. During his eleven years there production increased from 80,000 cases to 280,000 cases.

 

Dan is now partner/winemaker at Crew Wines, which was founded in 2004, and is consulting winemaker for a number of local wineries.  Visitors to the Cederquist property are struck by the art that surrounds them. Paintings and sculptures by Dan's wife, Anne Pentland, as well as pottery thrown by Dan himself sit in varied states of completion. It's hard not to walk away inspired.

 

This love of beauty is breathed into every bottle of wine Dan makes. The artwork that dons Starfish, King Fish and Rock Fish is merely a glimpse into the creativity and passion that goes into Dan's primary art form: Winemaking.
